Apertures I
Inspired by the idyllic Shropshire countryside, the gardens of Hodnet Hall and the vineyards of Hencote, just outside the town of Shrewsbury. The window effect was influenced by the stained glass artist Trena Cox, and her work at Holywell Church, hence the title Apertures. The dynamism of the diagonals and the flow of the curved frames create a walk through the flowers and fields, towards the blue remembered hills of A. E. Housman's poem, A Shropshire Lad.
Please enquire about collection or postage rates in UK before ordering.

L: 110cm
W: 53cm
Birchwood Plywood Backing Board
Painted in exterior eggshell paint by Farrow and Ball
Board sealed with four coats of yacht varnish
Mirror Plate Fixings
Mixed mosaic materials
Long Floral Panel Studio Sale
It’s has been tricky trying to photograph this piece as it is 100cm long. I always love the challenge of an odd-shaped backing board and the designs they suggest. This panel was inspired by the wayside borders in the Shropshire countryside, with dragonflies among the hand-cut glass petals. It suggests an over-mantel, above a headboard or door. Handmade in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Reduced from £169 to £84.50 in my Summer Studio sale.

100cm x 10cm
MDF backing board (for interior use)
Board painted in Farrow and Ball exterior eggshell in Off Black
Brass mirror plates at either end

Constellation Clock (Horologium 1317) Studio Sale
Selected for inclusion in the British Association of Modern Mosaic 2022 exhibition of international contemporary mosaicists held in Chester Cathedral. This clock was designed in response to the theme of 'constellations' and takes its design from the Horologium or Clock constellation. The rich lapis lazuli blue glass is mingled with gold mirror, and tiny tiles of orange, red and white. The abstract swirl through the centre is as if sand is passing through a timer and the three clocks represent the past, present and future. The brass hands are finished with tiny crystals to catch the light.
Mixed media mosaic
50cms diameter
MDF base board
Interior use only
Quartz battery clock movements
Two mirror plates for hanging
Due to the fragile clocks hand for collection or personal delivery only
