A calm workspace

Space to think, experiment and create.

After just a couple of weeks I have come to really appreciate the calmness of my new studio. Even though there is a busy road on the other side of the courtyard, within is calm and contemplative.

My desk looks out over ancient cobbles, with the sound of the local blackbird cheeping away as it builds its nest. It's a battle to keep the pigeons off my new lavender plants though!

This was my moving stock of mosaic tiles (who knew I had so many tucked away), but I'm enjoying searching out new suppliers and new tiles. Too much like being in a sweetie shop, I'm afraid. However, I am discovering new materials to work with which are having an impact on the shape and size of the mosaic designs. I'm now exploring thermal panelling used in bathrooms which can be cut with a knife and is extremely light.
